Our Catholic faith reveals that Christ’s love is unconditional, compassionate, and faithful. You and I imitate Christ’s love as a diocesan family when we provide for the spiritual/material needs of others through our Catholic Service Appeal.
Today’s economy severely challenges our ability to serve others in our diocese. Greater demands by more people drain Catholic Charities’ limited resources. Basic costs consume the shrinking income of our small parishes and 28 missions. Expanding faith formation ministries are vital for people’s faith. Our large number of seminarians (10) and retired priests (18) must be supported in 2009.
I am aware these are harsh economic times for you and me … and more so for those who have less than we do. And yet doesn’t Christ’s love compel us to try to continue our present level of services? A strong Catholic Service Appeal will make Christ’s compassion real to those we serve.
You and I help make Christ’s love present to those we serve by this very important Appeal.
